Innovative solutions presented at an international conference in Tallinn

The international conference “Patient-Oriented Operating Room Management” brought together more than 120 Lithuanian, Latvian and Estonian nurses and chief nursing administrators to Tallinn.

The purpose of the conference is to pay attention to the organization of the operation of the operating room by improving its work in such a way that the main attention is paid to the patient, his health promotion.

Lecturers from Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Finland and Australia presented insights on operating room management in four sessions, which discussed the importance of a patient-centered approach, supply chain management, clinical solutions and future operational visions.

In the first part of the conference, there was a discussion about working in a team, the nuances of organizing the daily work of nursing staff, ethical challenges. During the session to discuss supply chain management in the operating room, Evaldas Gražys, ceo of AmberCell Solutions, presented one solution that helps to optimize supply chain processes in the operating room, and experience was shared on the benefits of one of the Lithuanian hospitals, where this solution has been implemented and has been operating for several years.

In the second part of the conference, participants had the opportunity to share their experiences on infection control risk factors, prevention, hear about the importance of venous thromboembolism in patients after surgical interventions, learn more about latex-free surgery, and hear about nurses’ experiences of reducing stress in the work environment. The conference was crowned by a presentation by another of our employees, head of innovation Povilas Norbutas, about innovative supply management solutions in the operating room of the future.

The conference was organized by Vilnius University and Tallinn Health Care College in cooperation with partners: the Lithuanian Association of Operating Room Nurses, the Lithuanian Association of Anesthesia and Intensive Care Nurses, the Latvian Association of Operating Room Nurses.
