Robotic surgery options presented at the Republican Hospital of Šiauliai

At the Republican Hospital of Šiauliai, the robotic surgery system “Hugo™ RAS” was presented to surgeons and specialists of operating teams. During the visit, medical specialists had the opportunity to get acquainted with the principles of operation of the system, the workflow in the operating room and modern robotic surgery solutions.

During the demonstration, the participants closely inspected the control of the system’s instruments, ergonomic solutions and the organization of surgical work in the operating environment. There were also discussions on the role of robotic technologies in modern surgery, the development of minimally invasive procedures, and the prospects of surgical innovations in Lithuania.

Robotic surgery is increasingly used in various fields of surgery in the world due to the possibility of ensuring greater precision of procedures, better control of instruments and greater ergonomic comfort of the surgeon. Robotic systems allow complex minimally invasive operations to be performed using high-resolution 3D imaging and highly precise instrument movements.

For patients, this can mean less surgical trauma, less postoperative pain, shorter hospitalization time, and a faster return to normal life. At the same time, robotic technologies contribute to the standardization of surgical processes and create additional opportunities for the professional development of surgeons and the planning of complex procedures.

The growing interest of medical institutions and surgeons in advanced technologies shows the consistent attention of the healthcare sector to clinical development, innovation and the search for more effective treatment solutions.

More about the visit and the attitude of the Republican Šiauliai Hospital to the possibilities of robotic surgery can be found in the hospital’s publication.

At Klaipėda University Hospital, a 70-year-old liver cancer patient who could not undergo surgery was given a minimally invasive treatment method – microwave ablation. During the procedure, the tumor is destroyed by precise exposure to heat, without damaging the surrounding tissues, and the patient’s recovery is faster and easier than after open surgery.
