Almost everyone knows about the fact that an artificial intelligence assistant can already create an artificial letter or make a stunning fake of a photo. The fact that robots serve not only to identify some diseases, but also during operations is also nothing new. Some see opportunities in ultra-rapid modernization, others see threats, but what do the already existing possibilities of medicine and science really ensure for an aging person? Lithuanian society is ageing at twice the rate of the European average, but maybe it is an opportunity for science and the loss of boundaries in medical opportunities.

On October 16-17, for the first time in Lithuania, the longevity conference “Longevity”, which will bring together a group of top-level professionals, will take place. The event, which will be available for delphi readers and viewers to watch online and on television, will discuss a wide variety of topics related to a longer, healthier, happier life, present the latest scientific possibilities, thanks to which a person’s life can not only lengthen, but be much more productive, and in the past, old age associated with diseases and ailments will be illuminated with new colors.
Future forecasts – favourable for Lithuania
According to one of the conference partners, Evaldo Gražis, director of ambercell solutions, due to technological progress in the medical sector, the life expectancy of the population is increasing, humanity is rapidly aging, but in Lithuania the rate of aging is almost 2 times faster than the average in the European Union.
“The European Commission predicts that in three decades in 2050, the average age of the country’s population will reach 51 years and will be almost 7 years higher than at present. It is necessary to talk about the topic of longevity today, because, according to UN forecasts, over a century, the average life expectancy of the European population will increase by almost 18 years, and the population of Lithuania – by as much as 20 years.”
On the interviewer, the vast majority of older people suffer from various health disorders, recovery and recovery after various interventions in older patients are often difficult and crumbling.
“Therefore, in the context of preserving longevity, it is extremely important to talk not only about prevention, health preservation, but also about innovative, minimally invasive, patient-oriented treatment solutions that respect human health, helping to recover faster after the procedure and return to everyday life,” said E. Gražiys.
A different approach to the patient and cancer treatment
It is no secret that at an older age the risk of oncological diseases increases: the highest incidence of oncological diseases, according to E. Gražis, is recorded in the group of women aged 65-80 years and in the group of vydas aged 70-85 years. Due to frequent cases of chronic diseases, oncological diseases are diagnosed later, attributing their symptoms to other existing diseases, therefore, in order for the disease to be diagnosed as early as possible, for fivety years now, they are potential participants of all preventive programs implemented in Lithuania.
“An aging society signals that traditional treatment methods must be replaced by innovative, complex treatment solutions that respect the patient’s health. The patient must be seen as a whole with his concomitant diseases, the whole state of health is assessed, and not just a specific disease is treated. Not only doctors, but also patients need to be aware of innovative, sparing treatment options, choose the most attractive treatment method for them, so education and presentation of innovations in the field of cancer treatment is a mission with which we contribute to this conference. Today, with so many innovations, it is very important that the public is aware of the latest, most effective, health-friendly and safe treatment solutions,” says the head of AmberCell Solutions in a press release about the decision to become partners of the Longevity conference.
The topics of oncological diseases will be widely touched upon during the conference, and assoc. prof. During the event, Dr. Artūras Samuilis and Dr. Aurimas Mačionis will discuss the possibilities of artificial intelligence in the diagnosis and treatment of cancer. However, according to a press release, the diagnosis and treatment of cancer is only a small part of the content of the Longevity conference.
