Nursing specialists deepened their knowledge about risk factors and prevention of thromboembolism in Palanga

Nursing specialists of Lithuanian medical institutions deepened their knowledge about thromboembolism at the conference – “Anesthesia and Intensive Care: Autumn Issues 2024” in the Rehabilitation Department of Klaipėda Republican Hospital “Pušynas”.

At the conference , olga Didenko, nursing administrator of Vilnius University Hospital (VUL) Santara Clinics, gave a presentation on the risks and prevention of thromboembolism, who shared the latest knowledge about this important topic. Thromboembolism is a condition that occurs when a blood clot (thrombus) is formed in a blood vessel and, subsequently separated, can travel blood circulation and clog another blood vessel, thereby causing a pulmonary embolism, stroke or heart attack. Prevention of thromboembolism is especially important for nurses, since tomboembolism is a serious complication that can occur in patients undergoing surgery. Nurses have a crucial role to play in ensuring that patients are protected from this condition throughout the surgical process. Effective prevention of thromboembolism can reduce the risk of complications and improve the well-being of patients after surgery.

During the conference, the Cardinal Health™ Kendall SCD™ 700 Smart Compression™ system was presented at the Ambercell booth for the prevention of thrombormbolism. This innovative system improves blood circulation to prevent blood stagnation, monitors compliance, educates patients and clinical specialists about HA-VTE, and takes into account environmental aspects.
