Advances in the treatment of CTO through international collaboration during the 17th CTO days conference.
The treatment of chronic complete coronary artery occlusion (CTO) remains one of the most challenging areas of interventional cardiology, requiring advanced techniques and extensive procedural experience.
During the 17th CTO Days conference, experienced specialists from not only the Baltic States, but also from Germany, Poland, Japan, Ukraine, Serbia and Armenia gathered at the Riga East Clinical University Hospital , thus emphasizing the true value of international cooperation in improving patient care.
The event, organized by Dr. Artis Kalniņš and his team, focused on real-time clinical practice.
Live broadcasts of the procedures took place from several centers:
- Paulo Stradiņš Clinical University Hospital, represented by Dr. Dace Sondore, Dr. Aigars Lismanis and teams
- Klaipėda University Hospital, represented by Dr. Andrej Pileckij and team
- Vilnius University Hospital Santaros Klinikos, represented by Dr. Arvydas Baranauskas and team
- Northern Estonia Medical Center, represented by Dr. Peep Laamets and team
This year also saw the first live broadcast from the hospital in Bosnia and Herzegovina , a clear sign of the event’s continued growth and growing international reach.
Participants had the opportunity to observe complex CTO PCI procedures in real-time, followed by case study discussions and technical analysis.
Events in this format remain particularly important in interventional cardiology, where skills are developed through hands-on experience, peer discussions and experience sharing. In the end, it all boils down to one goal – to improve patient care.
