At the beginning of September, a scientific seminar was held at daugavpils county hospital for radiologists, gynecologists and family doctors on the diagnosis and treatment of pelvic full-blood syndrome (DPS).<\/p>\n\n
During the seminar, Dr. Patricia Ivanova, associate professor and angiosurgeon of the Riga Eastern Clinical University Hospital, presented in detail the course of DPS, symptoms and the latest methods of treatment applied. Specialist in minimally invasive endovascular procedures Dr. Ivanova introduced the participants of the seminar to the most advanced and effective methodology for the treatment of DPS – the procedure of embolization of blood vessels, the clinical success rates of which reach as much as 80-85%. <\/p>\n\n
One of the essential symptoms of DPS is chronic or recurrent pelvic or abdominal pain lasting more than 3-6 months. In Europe, this syndrome affects about 30% of women of reproductive age, and the most effective and less invasive treatment method for treating this disease is embolization. During the embolization procedure, very thin catheters are introduced into the target veins and special inert spirals are introduced, which close the vein and stop the venous stasis of the pelvis. <\/p>\n\n
The session was organized in cooperation with “TERUMO Europe” and specialists dr. Denis Vasilyev, dr. Vladimir Sorokin and dr. Inna Zamjatina.<\/p>\n\n
